Bamboo Rods

Bambo Rods

Every bamboo build starts from scratch. You decide on the taper, line weight, components, and color scheme. Only once all the parameters are chosen then your rod is started.  If you don't have a particular rod in mind I will work with you to find a rod that will be a direct reflection of you and your fishing style.

Bamboo rods are surprisingly strong, there is no reason to treat bamboo rods as a fragile wisp of a rod. No need to worry about a little dent or ding eventually breaking the rod in the way that graphite can.

One of my personal favorite is a 7', 3-4 weight.  She can drop a dry fly right on the mark or chuck a nymph right into that seam.  This model has caught 4" Golden Trout in high mountain meadows and 18" Rainbows in fast moving free stone waters with a delicate touch and plenty of backbone.

Pricing:

A deposit of 1/3 the rod cost is required prior to the rod being started. The deposit is refundable until the cane has been split and components ordered, after that the deposit is non-refundable. Each rod takes me approximately 60-80 hours of labor from start to finish and are made completely by hand from Tonkin cane. All rods include nickel silver reel seats with exotic wood inserts, agate stripping guide to match the color scheme of the rod, nickel silver ferrules, and a custom turned cork handle. Flaming options include blonde (not flamed), flamed, striped/mottled, and medium dark Tortoise shell.
