FINALLY!!! Skunk be gone

Finally!!!  Got the skunk smell off the Sage "One" 11'6" Switch I built a while back.  Now I can keep the rod in the cab of my truck without the skunk smell.  As you can see it wasn't the biggest Barred Perch in the sea, but at least it came to hand.  Had a couple more hits and misses, but that's why they call it fishing.

Had a blast flinging flies with my fishing  buddies Gary and Tim, now dubbed  the "Morro Bay Mulisha".   We all caught Barred Perch in the 10" to 14" range with Tim out fishing all of us.

Tim, was slinging his Sage 12'6" Spey and hooking up quite often.  Matter of fact we may have to put him on a time out next time.  Gary and I have to find a way to slow Tim down.  Shoot we need a shot at the fish also.  He's a machine.

Tim builds custom rods with his own unique flare.  His handles are one of a kind and are about the coolest things since sliced bread.

And last, but definitely not least Gary with one of his victims.  Gary's throwing a single hand Sage. So as you can see you don't need a bunch of specialized equipment to bring fish to hand.   Although Gary is now kicking around building himself a two-hander.  And the addiction grows :-)

For me, with two blown up shoulders, a two-hander is the way to go, in the surf.  Especially when you are trying to launch a 30' T-11 shooting head over 100'.  Hardly any effort to when you are casting.  These rods do the work for you.

Nice shot of Morro rock with the fog starting to burn off.  For those of you who aren't familiar with the central coast, the  conditions you are looking at are not typical.  This outing was like fishing in a lake for us.  Yes it picked up and got rougher, but really?  A picture with a wave interval that long is unheard of.  Once we get closer to winter well...... the gloves come off and mother nature will really start giving us the smack down.

Want to fish the central coast with us?   Just shoot me an e-mail  and we'll try to meet you on the water.

Thanks to Gary and Tim for supplying the pictures.  Honest guys, I promise I'll start bringing a camera.

Until next time my friends,
Pete
