I guess the reason I am posting this is to say: I'll be back building with a vengence starting after tomorrow night. Can't wait to start building again. Nightshift has been just like going cold turkey into rehab. Long nights running a crew hasn't left me time to even enjoy the various fly fishing forums I frequent.
I will be glad to get back in the studio to get after some long overdue projects:
Have a Blue Halo fiberglass 7'6" 3 weight spec rod in Cappuccino to finish. I have been ask several times to compare my favorite fiberglass blanks (Epics) to Blue Halo. I can't give advice if I haven't fished a rod so hence the build. This rod is slated to go to Utah for @americanandie to give it a go on the Provo and other local streams. Then she'll give me a review of what she thinks. I think I might offer this rod up as a loaner so folks can give it and an Epic a go, side by side, before they settle on a custom.
Need to build a swap rod for our club's 2014 Rendezvous. Not to mention a rod for our "Casting for recovery" rod donation at the same time. Both of those will be due next month. Talk about waiting until the last minute!!!
Then I need to get back on whittling down some Bamboo. Why? because ever since my love affair with Epic fiberglass began I have been so busy building Epic customs I have neglected the Godfather of building materials...... Bamboo.
Don't worry, I can always stop on all but the Casting for Recovery rods to sneak in a custom build should you get the hankering for your own piece of magic built entirely for you ;-) Come on wet weather, get us out of this stinking drought. I can only fish the saltwater so much. Man it feels good to be back.
Until next time my friends,
