Epic 5 wt.

Here it is, an Epic Nude, 5 weight, 8’, 3 piece build just for me.  Built it to go with my new J. Ryall olive/ bronze colored reel.  Typical of all my Epic builds, I went with the Tom Morgan recommended guide spacing.  Added a Struble Amber banded Agate stripping guide, Lemke up-locking seat hardware, and Snake Brand Universal guides & winding check.  Turned a Spalted Black Ash reel seat insert and my modified full wells handle. Wrapped everything up with Fish Hawk green silk and two turn black silk tipping.

Woohoo Finally Hit the Water

Well…… I finally did.  I went fishing in real live fresh moving water.  No Pacific salt and no lakes. Headed up the west side of the Sierra Nevada’s on Saturday.  I must say it felt really, really, really good!!!!! The fish cooperated.  Not to mention the Valley Armada decided to stay closer to town with their inner tube and rubber boat armada so I had a lot of water to myself.

Did I mention the fish cooperated?  ;-)  Probably about 20 to hand that ranged from 6 to 14 inches.  Nothing to crow about, but they actually kept playing throughout the heat of the day.  Of course with my stealthy wading I did spook several fish that went 16 to 18 inches.
