The top seat and winding check are stabilized Black Ash Burl partnered with Struble's U-24 Dark Nickel Silver hardware. It will be for my own personal build, a St. Croix 11', 5 weight switch rod. The winding check will be inserted in the front of the handle to tie the reel seat insert to the rest of the rod. Just a little something I am trying out.
The middle seat is turned from an Acrylic pen blank surrounded by Nickel plated hardware from Acid Rods. It is going on a rod for my niece. She needs a girlie rod to keep her dad from snagging it for his own assault(s) on the trout population in Bishop Ca. No finish is necessary for Acrylic inserts. It is polished to a high luster using micro Mesh down to 12000 grits.
The bottom seat is stabilized Black Ash Burl teamed up with Struble's D-8 Nickel Silver down-locking hardware. This one is going on #3 in a series of Steffen Brother's Fiberglass rods I am building for a customer.
So you can see from the different reel seat inserts, there isn't too much we can't do when it comes to building you your own one off custom rod. If you can dream it, I am willing to bet Renaissance Rods can make it a reality.
P.S. The seats are sitting on a piece of quarter sawn Sycamore that makes a unique and beautiful seat ;)
